Learn to Sew – Extension (term 2) – Semester 1

Description: This course is open to those members who attended ‘Learn to Sew’ in term 3 last year or term 1 this year. Class members will decide which 2-3 dressmaking projects they will all follow together, such as a shift dress and simple pull-on trousers, and then purchase the appropriate patterns, fabrics and notions.
Requirements: Sewing machines and all tools will be provided. See Further Details for materials class members will need to provide.

Description

Requirements: A $5 levy is included in the course fee to cover some costs such as A4 printing and sewing machine needles. Students will need to pay for sewing patterns and fabric for the projects.
Introducing the tutor, Suzie London from Bits ‘n’ Bobbins sewing school: Suzie was born in The Netherlands but moved to Perth with her family aged nine. She was selected for the Special Art Programme at Kalamunda Senior High School, and went on to study Graphic Design and Multimedia at TAFE in Northbridge. Suzie decided to move to London when she was 20, and it was there that she learnt to sew, at the London College of Fashion. She has since taught sewing at Sew Over It in London, as well as in the haberdashery department of John Lewis department store on Oxford St. Suzie moved back to Perth at the end of 2019 and works as a freelance illustrator for sewing and craft books, as well as creating her own fabric designs and products under the name Suzie London.
