Writing Creatively – Monday – Semester 1

Description: Come and stimulate your creative self by writing fiction to share. The focus is on prose fiction writing of varying lengths, including Flash Fiction, Short Story or Novel length prose. The usual narrative length is flash fiction and short story, however this class can take a special interest in novel writing and for those who wish to put together a book of memoirs. Writers will receive encouragement, positive feedback and suggestions, but above all, have fun while writing.

In semester one 2025 the facilitator of the Monday Creative Writing class, Tania Park, set a task for the group to write on the topic of Twenty-Five for a contest. This is from the Armadale Writers and was set as a project to celebrate twenty-five years of their existence. It could be a poem or a short story under five hundred words.
Tania thought it was a difficult topic but was stunned at the results, She had encouraged all of her group to send in their pieces to the competition. It was an even bigger surprise when all of those who did enter won places. The two poems by Lee Caldwell and Ann Grylls came first and second, respectively. Tania, Megan McCormack, Lee Caldwell and Theo Pabst won places in the short story section.
All the pieces will be published later in 2025 Anthology that is produced by both Creative Writing groups at KCLC.
The group were at the award presentations on the 4th May (see below).
