Description: A hand embroidery class for like-minded people where everyone can work on their own embroidery projects with help available from a facilitator and other more advanced students. Introducing the tutor, Irene Gierczycki: Irene’s first experience in embroidery was at a young age watching the women in her family sew. A great inspiration was her great aunt Vi who held the position of head embroiderer and designer in Norman Hartnell’s atelier and worked on the late queen’s coronation gown. Irene regularly attends workshops which enables her to learn the latest trends in embroidery as well as new techniques. She enters competitions and has won many top prizes over the years. She loves passing on her skills to others and would like to see this skill passed onto future generations.
