How the Body Works: In Sickness and in Health – Semester 1

Description: The aim for this course is to provide the class with knowledge about the structure (anatomy) and function (physiology) of the human body.  Each week will focus on one part or system of the body e.g., week 1 – the pulmonary system (lungs), week 2 – the cardiovascular system (heart and vessels) etc.  For each system, as well as describing what is normal, a few common abnormalities will also be discussed, e.g., week 1 Asthma, Emphysema, Pneumonia.

Introducing the tutor, Dr Susan Caddy MBBS (WA) Graduate of UWA: After internship and residency at Fremantle Hospital entered the Family Medicine Programme (forerunner of the RACGP) and spent time as a GP in Kalgoorlie. Most recently I have spent 15 years in the medical faculty of Notre Dame University with 1st and 2nd year medical students.
