A group of around 20 meets each week to learn about Tudor History. Many class members had completed the previous courses on earlier periods. However, several newcomers joined the group this semester, and our tutor thoughtfully provided an overview of the preceding era to set the scene.

Since then, we have been learning the convoluted story of the Tudor kings and queens and the pivotal points of those times, not to mention the plots and skulduggery!

We are now delving into other aspects of the Tudor era, such as the class structure and use of the land, and we look forward to navigating the fascinating social history of that period, including the way people dressed, what they ate, how they cooked, how they traded and earned their living, and even how they got their surnames.

All in all, a fascinating journey through a tumultuous period of English history.
