Handypersons Short Course (term 1) – Semester 1

Description: Introduction to basic tools for the novice home handyperson. This short course is for participants with very little, or no experience with common hand tools or general domestic building repairs and construction. All the activities can be done at home without a dedicated workshop. Due to legal and safety constraints, skills associated with a licensed/registered trade (e.g. plumbing, electrical, telecommunications) will NOT be considered. See ‘Further Details’ for a more detailed description.
Requirements: Not required first session but participants to provide own basic tools. There will be an additional fee to pay for consumables (see Further details).

Description

Description Details: At the end of this course, participants should be able to recognise, select and use a range of simple hand tools (including power drills) in a domestic environment and plan and implement very basic repairs or installations. Typical examples of tasks would include; construct a simple woodworking project, hang a shelf or picture, repair minor damage to walls and estimate materials/costs for a minor project.
Requirements: For an example of the tools needed, view the details for session one at https://kalamundahabilis.weebly.com/. There will be an additional cost to be paid to the tutor for consumable materials e.g. pieces of timber, a sheet of gyprock (shared), screws, nails, filler etc. Estimated $25 per head.

Crèche: The crèche is not available for this session.
