Welcome...
Hello to the last edition of Centre Talk for 2025. The KCLC echoed the sounds of final classes reflecting much food, laughter and friendship as the last classes for 2025 were undertaken.
We meet another member of the executive, Bronwyn and there is a pictorial record of the annual Thank you Dinner, a reminder of Summer in the Centre, a thank you to the KCLC community for their contribution to Sharing a Hills Christmas, a glimpse at the Watercolour & Mosaic workshops, and a request for your memories for a new segment in the Centre Talk for 2026.
Finally, there is the answers to the Crossword and I hope you all have a lovely Christmas with family and friends.

My husband and I moved to Lesmurdie 46 years ago. We have always appreciated the wonderful community aspect of living here and, I have been involved in a number of community projects over the years.
My professional journey began as a secondary school teacher specializing in library science. Teaching research skills and managing every aspect of the school library gave me a deep appreciation for the power of organized knowledge. After a short break when my sons were young, I returned to teaching at Kalamunda Christian School where I taught in a variety of capacities for over twenty years.
During this time, I also led teams of children and teenagers in dance and drama outreaches as well as assisting to run school holiday programs.
After retiring, I wanted to stay connected and active in the community. I started a playgroup, mentored students at Lesmurdie SHS and established a Kalamunda branch for a charity walk which raises funds for disabled and abandoned children in China.
For the past fifteen years, I have attended courses at KCLC and been involved in managing enrolments at the Centre. When we moved online at the end of 2017 I became more heavily involved as we continually tweak and hopefully improve the enrolment experience for our members. Serving as Assistant Registrar for five years and stepping into the Registrar role last year let me work closely with a fantastic team of volunteers. Whether helping a tutor set up a new course or assisting a member with their first online registration, I find great satisfaction in supporting others and solving problems together.

It was the annual 'Thank you' dinner.
The theme was cruising on a boat 🚢 and many dressed for the occasion. With Bridget as the Captain, it was an entertaining evening where the volunteers, who keep the KCLC running, and the class tutors and facilitators, get together.
In addition several members use this function to undertake their Workgroup commitment, which adds to the success of the evening.

Many thanks to Jannine Rivalland for many of the dinner photos.

Sharing a Hills Christmas...

Class News...
Watercolour Painting Workshop
The Christmas windup is featured in this class contribution - an enjoyable feature of most classes.
We were very comfortable and shared painting time, good food, “champagne” and friendly warm company. We are fortunate to have Averil and Beth as our tutors – they are positive and constructive and more importantly very encouraging. We thank them for their time and efforts. We have a lot of laughs in our class, amongst the occasional silent times when we are all concentrating on our artwork.

Requesting your Memories...
There are KCLC members who have been involved with centre for many years with interesting memories to share. If you have a story about the KCLC then perhaps you would like to send a description to future editions of Centre Talk.
Make it succinct, around 150 words and please include photos, which should be sent as separate images with the word document. These items will be included in an edition of Centre Talk when space permits.
