Welcome...
This edition includes Bridget's round up of the very successful Open Day, some missing items in Housekeeping, the new and available courses for Term 4, information about the next Centre Lunch, class news from the 'Learn to Sew', and the 'Just Embroidery' and 'Lets Crochet Together' groups, that were in the Display Cabinet.
Finally, Katherine has an update on Term 3 in the Crèche, while Su provides more humour while trying to reconnect lost property items with their owners.

A picture is worth a thousand words... if you missed it... there is always next year.

Open Day...Our Time to Shine
We didn’t just shine, we sparkled!
The exhibits on show, or for sale, were amazing and the atmosphere was relaxed and happy. This was helped along with the music and singing by the 'UkeARoos', who seemed to be thoroughly enjoying themselves throughout the day.

Rosemary and her splendid team kept everyone well-nourished with the café. It was very popular with the outside tables, on the balcony, adding to the ambience of the day.
The variety of arts, crafts and interests on display was amazing.
The art groups; oils, mixed media, drawing, portraits, landscapes, abstract... the variety on show reflected the many artists at the KCLC.

I cannot thank everyone enough for their contributions to an amazing day. So many people were involved, that if I named everyone there would be no room in Centre Talk for photos and other articles, but I must mention Mary and John who, after a really long day, helped take all the books, white elephant and left over goodies from the kitchen down to the Forrestfield charity shop. They must have been exhausted.
The set up and clear up teams were worth their weight in gold. By 4.30 pm the building had been returned to its normal everyday look and not as though we had just had a very successful Open Day.
I would just like to say that KCLC is one of the best (if not the best) organisations and it is the people who make it so – I'm not biased!
PS. I may have some radical ideas for next year so watch this space.

Term Four Courses on Sale!
We still have a few vacancies for some courses in Term 4 (see below). These can be enrolled in by visiting reception in the first week of the term. New courses commencing in Term 4 can also be enrolled in online over the break. We request that members enrol in these courses ready to start in the first week to minimise the disruption to classes.

Housekeeping...
Missing
A shopping bag containing the jewellery that was on display in the exhibition cabinet was inadvertently left behind either in the Craft Room or the corridor outside the room on the afternoon of Wednesday the 10th of September. If anyone saw this bag or has a clue to its whereabouts, please contact the office. It may have also been in the car park.
A watercolour book titled "Painting in Watercolours 1982" by Leslie Worth has also gone missing from the display in the Green Room on Sunday. This may have been picked up in error or packed away with another display. If anyone has any information or may have seen someone pick it up, please also contact the office.
Much loved booked by the owner.
Security footage is being examined and we thank you for any help in these matters.

'Learn to Sew' Class
The 8 week course was a great success, with students making cushion covers, tote bags and lined zip pouches, and completing the course with PJ shorts.
Next term will be an extension of the Learn to Sew course, with the same students making made-to-measure dresses and trousers.
The Learn to Sew course will run again next year on Tuesday mornings.

Crèche News...
The warm weather arrived while the shade cloth in the playground was off for its winter break – hopefully it will be back, all refreshed, in time for the new term! The toddlers love to play outside and are becoming very proficient at zooming down the slide. Along with having fun, this activity gives good opportunities to practise the useful-life skill of Waiting For Your Turn.
If you happen to be a member of a class that is run in the creche at “other” times during the week, you may have noticed that the children’s bookcase is now lying on its back. This is so that there is no chance of it toppling. Thank you, Anne-Marie for this clever solution to a possible safety issue.
At the beginning of this year, I was unsure whether there would be enough members willing and able to keep the creche running without paid staff. I have been absolutely delighted to have had so many wonderful people become part of the creche team. Thursday mornings are a joy, and I would like to thank everyone involved for their contribution to preserving this significant element of the Learning Centre.

Lost Property...
Step into the Office, where forgotten treasures waltz patiently on the shelves, waiting for their owners to remember them.
This week alone, we’ve reunited: • A pink sequinned stiletto (last seen dancing without its partner). • A clear glass casserole dish (rescued from the centre lunch, still dreaming of shepherd’s pie). • A cracked jogging phone with a motivational sticker (Walk Faster!), which nearly walked away for good. • One very relieved set of false teeth (the gentleman who claimed them insists tea tastes dreadful without them). • And, yes, even a giant inflatable flamingo (try carrying that home on the bus).
Of course, some orphans remain: • Two pairs of spectacles ( take note White Room users, as one pair was left there). • A dark pair of sunnies, joined the collection. • A turquoise Tiffany spectacle case—try saying that quickly 5 times. • The blue sweatshirt jacket with a hood—has found a friend. • A very light black, zip up jacket. • Two water bottles—one is white metal and still contains water. The other red plastic with lime green flip-up spout. • A dark green, insulated drink mug. • A fine crochet hook is a new addition. • A small black Sony cap. Possibly a lens cap. • And if anyone knows Antonietta, please ask her to collect her Tupperware box.
Remember: objects don’t simply vanish—they wait patiently to be remembered. So before you sigh, buy a new one, or blame the dog, stop by the Office and ask for Lost Property. Your missing jacket, glasses, Tuppaware box, or drink bottle may already be here, tapping its foot, wondering when you’ll come collect it. Come claim your things—because even lost property deserves a happy ending.
