Half way through the term and, dare I say it, both Christmas and the New Year will soon be here. Do you have the fruit soaking for your cake & pudding? While Einstein included time in his famous equation, I am sure there is another possible theory out there that relates time going faster, the older you get. The year has certainly sped by.

From the Executive...
New Flooring!!
The floor surfaces are to be replaced in the orange (hall) and the green rooms near reception, as most of you are probably now aware. This is great news. These works are scheduled to take place from Monday 25 November to Friday 20 December, 2024.
This affects the last week of term for members using these rooms. Therefore, the City of Kalamunda has offered alternate spaces so the majority of classes can still go ahead.
Any questions please direct to Annie or Mary in the Office. We thank everyone for their understanding.
First Aid Training
We are delighted to offer approximately 12 to 15 Kalamunda Community Learning Centre members the opportunity to become first aid trained. This will help us provide up to date care for fellow members should an incident occur during our classes.
Those interested in completing the course will be required to do approximately five hours online training prior to an eight hour session onsite at St John WA State Office in Belmont (you will also be required to kneel for about two minutes). The training can be done on a day that suits you and ideally before the end of January 2025.
We will require you to pay for the course yourself and then KCLC will reimburse you upon presentation of your receipt once you have completed your training.
If you are interested, please register at Reception and provide a telephone number and email address or alternatively send an email to kclc@kclc.org.au, (attn: Annie). Once registered, Annie will then send you the course details.

Class News

✍ Please feel free to let us know anything interesting that you are up to in your classes, even though we don't have any official class news reporters this semester. A short snippet with a photo is perfect. Submissions can be emailed to centre_talk@kclc.org.au or written notes handed in to KCLC office.

Calligraphy
What comes to mind with Calligraphy? Pens, ink, nibs, quills, patience, time, care. There is over 2000 years of history of Latin scripts underpinning modern calligraphy. Yes, I looked up The Calligrapher's Bible.

Examine some of the wonderful work by the Calligraphy Group. There are reflections on life in beautiful print.

Registrar's Rambles...
In this regular segment, I hope to address some enrolment FAQs and offer enrolment advice...
Question: How can I enrol if I will be away from home during enrolment week and without access to the internet?
Members may submit a postal enrolment if they will be unable to enrol during enrolment week. Postal enrolment forms can be collected from the Reception Desk (or downloaded from the website) and returned to the Reception Desk before the end of the semester or by post. They must be received at least four days before enrolments open and be accompanied by payment.
Postal enrolments will be processed by the end of the first day of enrolments. We cannot guarantee a placement in the course. If there are no vacancies in the course, applicants will be informed, and a refund arranged.
