Welcome back to Term 4. Hope you all had a relaxing break, caught up with family and friends, maybe even travelled and perhaps enjoyed new vistas. Several important news items will be repeated for this edition so, if you haven't already placed them in your diary, now is your chance to do so.

From the Executive...
Volunteer Required for an Exciting New Concept
The Executive Committee is keen to offer specialist workshops during future ‘Summer in the Centre’ sessions. Our vision is to provide local professional artists or craftspeople an opportunity to run workshops at the Centre during our break. They would be paid for the sessions and class members would be charged the appropriate fee to cover this cost.
To achieve this, we need a member to volunteer to manage the process: meet with a member of the Executive to establish guidelines, select and invite artists, liaise with them to establish dates, times and their requirements etc.
If this concept interests you and you would like more information or to volunteer, please let us know by emailing registrar@kclc.org.au.
First Aid Training
We are delighted to offer approximately 12 to 15 Kalamunda Community Learning Centre members the opportunity to become first aid trained. This will help us provide up to date care for fellow members should an incident occur during our classes.
Those interested in completing the course will be required to do approximately five hours online training prior to an eight hour session onsite at St John WA State Office in Belmont (you will also be required to kneel for about two minutes). The training can be done on a day that suits you and ideally before the end of January 2025.
We will require you to pay for the course yourself and then KCLC will reimburse you upon presentation of your receipt once you have completed your training.
If you are interested, please register at Reception and provide a telephone number and email address or alternatively send an email to kclc@kclc.org.au, (attn: Annie). Once registered, Annie will then send you the course details.

Attention: Tuesday AM Tai Chi class
As you are aware the hall floor needs repairs and, unfortunately, the engineers will inspect the floor during your class time on Tuesday. I have managed to negotiate that they are finished by 10am allowing your class to commence at the later time of 10.15am. We will contact all affected members first thing Monday to follow up. Apologies for the late notice, I only found out on Friday. Your tutor is onboard!

✍ Please feel free to let us know anything interesting that you are up to in your classes, even though we don't have any official class news reporters this semester. A short snippet with a photo is perfect. Submissions can be emailed to centre_talk@kclc.org.au or written notes handed in to KCLC office.

Registrar's Rambles...
Hi! In this regular segment, I hope to address some enrolment FAQs and offer enrolment advice. This question relates to withdrawing from courses...
Question: Do I need to advise the Centre if I will no longer be attending a course?
We appreciate members notifying us if they will no longer be attending a course. This way, we can make a place for another member to enrol. This is particularly important for our popular courses which may have people registered on a waitlist.
Question: Can I receive a refund if I can no longer attend?
The Centre’s policy is that members who officially withdraw within the first two weeks of the course commencing may be offered a refund (whole or partial) of course fees. No refunds will be given after the second week of the course commencement date except in extenuating circumstances and a Coordinator must approve these. If a casual member officially withdraws within the first two weeks, their remaining casual ticket/s will be ‘bought back’. No refunds will be given after the first two weeks.
